More than half of the American population is affected by periodontal disease, which begins with mild inflammation and occasional bleeding. If not treated promptly, it can develop into a severe form that attacks the bone, causing permanent damage and ultimately leading to tooth loss.
What makes chronic periodontal disease particularly tricky is that it may not cause pain, unlike other dental problems, making it harder to detect.
The use of laser therapy in dentistry has become more popular among patients and periodontists. Healthcare providers have been utilizing lasers to treat various medical conditions for many years, and they were introduced to dentistry as a way to overcome some of the limitations of traditional dental procedures.
Dental laser therapy utilizes a focused beam of light energy to target particular areas of dental tissue for various periodontal procedures.
Dental implants provide a natural-looking and feeling solution for replacing missing teeth. A titanium post or screw is implanted into the jawbone to serve as the tooth root replacement. An artificial tooth, called a crown, is then securely attached to the implant, creating a realistic and comfortable tooth replacement.
Due to their lifelike appearance and sensation, implants are the preferred option for filling gaps caused by missing teeth, as recommended by both patients and periodontists.
When an individual experiences bone loss in the jaw, dental bone grafts can be utilized to replenish the lost volume and density. Dental bone grafts are a dependable approach to restoring the missing jawbone and creating a sturdy base for implants and other restorative dental treatments.
The gum tissue plays a crucial role in safeguarding the teeth against harmful substances such as bacteria and plaque. However, gum recession can compromise this defense mechanism, leaving the teeth susceptible to damage. Gum Tissue Grafting becomes necessary if the recession exceeds 2mm to restore and protect the teeth.
Crown lengthening is a surgical method used to reposition the gum around a tooth to expose more of its structure. This procedure becomes necessary when a tooth is decayed, fractured below the gum line, or lacks the necessary height for restorative procedures such as bridges or crowns.
